Art & Craft Idea - Your Own Jigsaw Puzzle Design!

This is one of those items I could share with my elder daughter. She likes any form of art & craft, claiming  it's her favourite subject. It's no wonder she looks forward to Thursdays, art and craft day in her kindie. This blank puzzle is readily cut into pieces and comes in two sizes, 25 and 36 pieces with the total size approximately 21x21cm (or 8"x8") and 29x29cm (or 11"x11") respectively. The 25pc set comes in two puzzles per pack.

Single set 35pcs and double set 25pcs puzzles - let your creative juices flow at RM10 (USD4) per pack

I've made one as a birthday give sometime back before I started this blog and didnt take a photo of it. But it turned out quite unique in its own personalised way. Use colour markers or magic colour for your designs as they are cleaner and goes well with the puzzle surface.
Up close - the pieces are well cut and fits snugly.
Good for school's art & craft projects, here are what you can do with this puzzle:
  1. Glitter & glue - lightly outline your design. apply glue in stages. sprinkle glitter over the glue areas. use multiple colours. alternatively, replace glitter with coloured sand.
  2. Hand painting - perfect for younger children. help them write their name on the puzzle as well.
  3. Colour markers - recommended. simple and fast (not to mention, clean as well).
  4. Acrylic paints - for the budding artist. to make it last longer, spray a light protective coat.
It can be used in groups by dividing the puzzle into sections.

Lastly, if you are a parent, you'd want to keep your child's self-designed puzzle in a frame as it'll be priceless!

Only RM10 / USD4 per pack.

Handmade Decorative Lights for the Festivities

Today I'm in a festive mood, not sure why. When it's the festive season, my hubby and I love decorating our front yard with lights. Being Malaysian Chinese, we put up little red lanterns which blinks randomly a month before Chinese New Year. This year, we added red LED lights to our garden gazebo. It really does not matter what festival it is, lights are pretty to look at be it on a Christmas tree or at the entrance to your home. I love it, my girls definitely love it.

Here are some pretty decorative lights for any occasion. They are made of cane, hand weaved into particular shapes and coloured vibrantly. Note that the lights itself are not coloured.

Festive lights - Round shaped coloured ball - adds a rustic look to your home
Festive Lights - Star Shaped lights for Christmas perhaps?
Festive Lights - Stars and Cresents, uniquely for Hari Raya Adilfitri
Lights are 10 feet long. Price : RM52/set (USD19/set).
Available designs: 1) Balls, 2) Stars, 3) Stars & cresents  4) Stars & cresents (green & yellow only)

Super Light Weight Stroller Good for Travellers

If you travel with kids, especially toddlers about the age of 1 - 3, here's a stroller which is super light weight and convenient to use. Weighing only 2.5kgs, it folds in neatly and can be inserted into a mid size luggage. It's arms are retractable just like the ones your bags have as seen here.
This 2.5kgs / 1.2 pounds stroller folds neatly

It's not impeccably sturdy, nor has the standard 'stroller' features like wheel lock, pockets or baskets, safety belts or visors. However, that's the point, remove everything else to make it light weight and easy to carry - simple and easy. I like the fact that they used a net type of material for the seat which is rather suitable for the Malaysian tropical climate.

The super light weight stroller comes in red and blue. I reckon it is for children whose weight is not more than 15 kgs / 7 pounds for safety. Going for RM180 (USD60) excluding delivery charges. So if you are visiting Malaysia, or simply planning a trip with the family, why not bring this stroller along?

Child's Art Scrap Book

If your child loves to draw / paint / doodle, create a scrap book for them using a plain note book and some sticky tape.

My eldest, Taryn, loves doodling on small pieces of paper about the size of 10cm x 10cm. These papers are normally scattered around the house, on the dining table and between the sofa cushions. Throwing her work away seems discouraging, so why not systematically store it in a booklet. Strangely, I had one with green paper... too awful for writing anything in it, but perfect for a scrap book.
She tells me stories depicted in her art. Like the ones above which are about sea creatures. Pretty amusing, i would say.
Looks like an Aladdin's Night type of story, but according to the artist, it's not a camel, it's a dinosaur (hello, green in colour?) she's on.

Rebirth of a blog

This blog has been in existance since 2003 but after going through numerous revamps, I finally decided to make good use of this blog by introducing items which are worth introducing to the world community. The things you find here are mostly for sale upon availability of stock, of course. If you are able to find these things in your country, then rest assured someone else has used it and recommends it.

On another note, i'd like to make a shout out to Laviart of www.dreamstime.com for the free image called Summer Flowers which i used for the backdrop. Heavens know I will change it often. :)

If you are a fan, thanks again for your support.
